October Topic: Grace |
As it is not until we have a deep appreciation of what GRACE is and means, that we really come into the full liberty in Christ that we have been purchased to experience, let's take this month to explore some of its depths and treasures. |
Romans 6:14
SIN SHALL NOT BE YOUR MASTER
I love it!
I love the way the commands of God become promises in Christ Jesus. Take another look at the 10 Commandments and see them through the eyes of a child of God! They become promises, as long as we walk in humble obedience before Him. So too, here.
In one way we can see it as a command, a request from God. I think it is much better and much greater than that though. I believe it is a promise to every child of the Living God.
Yes, once we were slaves. Slaves to the enemy, powerless within his kingdom, and yes, at that time we were letting sin be our master.
But Calvary changed all that. Once I came by faith to the foot of the Cross of Jesus Christ, confessed my sin and asked for His forgiveness, He broke the power of sin and guilt of sin.
You could have your sin forgiven and yet the guilt remains. It remains as a master to blackmail you. But the Blood of Christ broke the power and the guilt of sin.
Remember the hymn "Rock of Ages"?
"Rock of Ages, cleft for me. Let me hide myself in Thee.
Let the water and the Blood from thy riven side which flowed,
Be of sin the DOUBLE CURE -
Cleanse me from its GUILT AND POWER."
Did I hear you utter a quiet - Hallelujah?
Yes, when we were redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb it was not a half-hearted redemption - it was a full redemption!
God has taken up residence within us and says - "Now you are Mine. Let Me be your Master - you can have but one. If I AM your Master then sin cannot be!" Sin must go and it becomes powerless, because another master has no power or authority over our Master's slaves. Our master has defeated sin, guilt, satan and death and they can never regain authority unless we let them deliberately have it.
No, through Christ as your Master - sin shall never be your master!
