DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT YOUR BODY IS THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT?
God's heart's desire and plan moves one-step closer still to final fulfilment.
It was great when He came down, in the cool of the day; in the cloud and fire; when He filled the tabernacle; when He chose the Temple for His Name and when finally He became flesh and lived for a while among us, but there were still many limitations. Usually geographic!
Jesus, The Word, though God Incarnate, made flesh, He was still only able to be in one place at a time, so regardless how hungry you were, and eager to see Him, the reality nevertheless, remained - you had to go or be where He was. Yes, Jesus went out of His way to meet with certain people like Zaacheus, and the woman of Samaria, but there were still thousands of people on earth at the time, that never heard His voice nor saw His face. Jesus was a man limited to time and space for a while.
Now here, we have another new dimension! The Holy Spirit is everywhere! He is present all over the world at the same time. This is new all right! Not only that but God is not limited to buildings but indwells bodies - our bodies! The Temple building becomes the Temple Body! God invading and indwelling our finite, imperfect, perishable bodies and impacting our lives with Eternal Life! Just as our bodies are the 'vehicles' we use to get from place to place, they are also His mobile Temple, and residence, taking Him from place to place at the same time!
Isn't that fantastic? God dwells in us - EMMANUEL! God with and IN us!
But what a responsibility too! How do I treat my body - His Temple? Fill it with smoke? Ruin it with excesses? Allow it to become defiled and impure?
No! Let us be good stewards and ensure that we have clean 'Temples' fit for the indwelling of His Holy Spirit!
Remember - God is right where you are! He is right there - INSIDE you!
