WHAT COUNTS IS A NEW CREATION
Not patching up the old, not repairing the edges or polishing up the good parts of it.
What counts is a new creation.
We struggle with that don't we? We'd much prefer to try and change a few things here and there and pretend all is well. But God demands a new creation. Not the old one repaired - which is what, so often we offer Him.
A new creation suggests death to self, death to 'my way', death to my pride, ambition, aspirations; death to my selfish past, death to my desires and death to my ego. From now on, from this moment on, I am dead, and unless the resurrection power of the Almighty God flows through me and energises my very being - I will stay permanently stiff!
Old concepts have gone, worldly values must pass away, from now on I live by a whole new set of values, desires, ambitions and goals.
Tell me, honestly, how much of your life has really changed since you became a Christian?
Analyse yesterday for a minute. Would anything have been different yesterday because you are a Christian, or could you have done all you did then, without the dynamic of the power of God in your life? Christianity is not about what you do, so much as about who you are! Not about achievement but character. Even as I write this and get a sense of satisfaction from it, I am challenged by the Lord at some of my impatience at others because I want to get it done!
Trip someone up and you find out if they are a new creation!
Go and live with a family, or a couple for a while and the "truth will out"!
The Good News is that God knows we can't do it on our own - we do not have the strength, let alone the will power. That's why all these secular mind improving motivational courses are a waste of money. No matter what they say we cannot do it in our own strength. What counts is a new creation.
Beloved, give up the struggle! You can't live the Christian life - only Jesus can.
Stop striving, stop struggling - relax and let the resurrection life of Jesus live through your old dead body and be the new creation He wants to show to the world.
Go on, start today, if necessary!
