Revelation 22:12
MY REWARD IS WITH ME
To see Jesus will be enough!
To experience the end of sin and death and their "wages". To be liberated into a resurrection body and to be made "whole" will be reward enough.
But God is an extravagant God. He doesn't stop there - He is a God of love.
He knows that for most of us, we have had to overcome! Some have had to overcome a lifetime of pain and illness; some have had to overcome a dramatic bereavement; some have had to overcome torture and death for the sake of the Kingdom.
Then there are those who "fought" for the widows and orphans; those who "fought" for righteousness and justice; those who "fought" for the "unborn"; those who ministered to the poor; the famine ravished; the victims of earthquakes, volcanoes, and floods; the war bereaved and the shell-shocked.
Additionally there are those who will be granted the crowns that are mentioned in Scripture - for the ransomed, a crown of everlasting joy; for those who grieve, a crown of beauty; for those who long for His appearing, a crown of righteousness; for those who stood the test, a crown of life; for the elders, a crown of glory from the Chief Shepherd.
Add to those, the fact that all our deeds done since our salvation, according to Paul, will be tested (read 1 Corinthians 3:8 - 15) and rewards given.
Please note this is nothing to do with our salvation, which is by grace alone. This is to do with rewards for what we do after we are saved and are positive rewards.
Points are not "knocked off" for doing wrong. Rewards are given for the good we did as Christians.
Jesus says His reward is with Him.
Yes, He is indeed, reward enough.
But how much more wonderful it will be to receive an acknowledgment for faithfulness, from the King, Eternal, Immortal, Himself!
Won't it be worth overcoming these temporary setbacks and problems?
