Revelation 22:17
WHOEVER IS THIRSTY LET HIM COME
God is a passionate God.
He tells us that He is a jealous God. He is full of jealousy! What does that mean?
I would like to suggest it means that He hates indifference. As He said in the letters to the Churches earlier in Revelation, "because you are neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of my mouth". He is looking for a people with passion.
To use my phrase - which I hope you've caught by now! - He is looking for people who are "sold out" to Him. He doesn't want "Sunday only" Christians - or "Sabbath only" Christians if you prefer. He desires people to be "sold out" for Him.
He doesn't want people who treat Christianity with a take it or leave it attitude. He wants us "sold out". He doesn't like a "she'll be right" lifestyle - He wants us "sold out".
He is not interested in our petty ideas of an "insurance policy" for Heaven, and then "I can do what I like for the rest of my life, thank you very much".
Christianity is not a once and for all transaction. Its a once and always transaction. If I am to become a true child of God - I should live and act like one.
So many of us live our lives as if Jesus had not died to cleanse us from sin, and risen for our justification. Christianity is no more than a convenient add-on to our lives. Listen, God is looking for a people who are "sold out" to Him. He is not a plaything; He is not a genie for our convenience; He is not a religious "long stop" to make everything right when I come to the end of myself and my own puny efforts.
HE IS GOD. HE IS HOLY, HOLY, HOLY.
The corollary is here! Whoever is thirsty - let him come. Tell me - are you thirsty?
You won't be thirsty if you are not "sold out" to Him. David said, "As the deer pants for streams of water (in the desert) so my soul pants for you, O God".
Do you? Do you; pant for God - long for God - just like a deer in the desert? It will "die" without water. Will you "die" without God in your life today? Heaven is for those who are thirsty! If you are not, then you won't enjoy Heaven either.
If you are thirsty - if you are "sold out" - Jesus says, "Come. Heaven has a place for you and Heaven is the place for you!"
You will not be kept out but welcomed in!
