HOW SHALL WE ESCAPE IF WE NEGLECT SUCH A GREAT SALVATION?
God is an awesome God!
He is not the "genie of the lamp" to come at my beck and call, to make all my wrongs right and to fulfil all my heart's desires. Why not? Because the heart of man is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked!
How big is your God? Someone wrote a book once entitled "Your God is Too Small". I agree with him. Whatever your concept of God is - it is too small.
Go out tonight - if it is a clear night - and look up once more at the Milky Way and count the stars! Concentrate and see how many more seem to appear. Jesus put them in place and keeps them there! He also keeps our tiny little earth in place and stops it being sucked into our sun. But you have only seen the minutest part of the galaxy let alone the cosmos!
Why should the Creator of Space, the God of the Universe deign to send His One and Only Son to this earth to die for you and me? As David wrote "What is man that you are mindful of him?"
Your salvation cost God, His son. Your salvation was not "bought" by a mere human being, let alone a "good one", but by the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect, none other than the Son of God Himself. The King of kings and the Lord of lords.
Never lose the "wonder" of your salvation. Never lose sight of the vast "cost" of it either. Never let Calvary be reduced to a gold earring, a necklace, a silver trinket, or bumper sticker.
"Lest I forget your love for me, lest I forget Gethsemane - lead me to Calvary".
God has provided the "way of escape for everyone". All can accept it or reject it. The choice is theirs and ours. There will be no room for excuses.
How shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?
