UNLESS A CORN OF WHEAT FALL INTO THE GROUND AND DIE
Jesus was such a tremendous communicator!
I guess any Christian who wishes to communicate with others would love to be able to do so as Jesus did. Indeed, we should all study His methods, His words, His illustrations, and His appropriateness to every situation.
But let's just concentrate on "what" He says here. "Unless a corn of wheat falls into the ground and dies it remains alone - a single seed. But if it dies it produces many seeds".
This, I believe, not only describes what Jesus was about to do, but also reveals a divine principle. The divine principle being that not until a person or thing dies in the 'natural', will its true resurrected destiny be revealed.
Let me illustrate. Paul says in Philippians "I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection". Question? How can I know the power of His resurrection - you can't until you die! The "old man" must die before the resurrection power of Christ and your real destiny can be experienced.
God gives you a "vision" of what He is inviting you to be part of - part of His plan. Once you've got it pretty well understood, it all seems to "die". It becomes impossible! You think this is ridiculous. God wants me to do - - - and yet as soon as I "accept it", everything conspires to prove it can't be done. So you cry out - God, what are you doing?
So what is He doing? He is putting the "corn in the ground to die!" Why? So that when the vision becomes a reality, you will never be able to say you did it! It will become a reality only by the power of God. The miracles will flow and the seed multiply beyond imagination and all your wildest dreams!
What a phrase "but if it dies!" But if it dies - brought us our salvation. It also brought us the Bible in English.
