HE WAS WALKING IN THE COOL OF THE DAY...
God didn't put them 'on a desert island' and then just let them fend for themselves!
He not only "gave them Paradise in the Garden of Eden" but He also kept a 'Fatherly' eye on them. Yes, He gave them 'space' to be themselves, but at that specially appointed time of the day; when the business of the day was over; when the sun had lowered sufficiently for the temperature to drop; when it is good to sit down and relax and have a time of fellowship together - Father came to join in.
Not to 'barge' in but to give and receive, to enjoy that communion for which Adam and Eve had been created. What a privilege Adam and Eve had - the Almighty, Creator God - all to themselves for a special time each day. He didn't interrupt their exploration; their planning; their organising or their rule, but He came down to be their Friend, Counsellor and Guide.
Yes, He was always there for them, but this time was special, as it was 'set apart.' Where there would be no other emergencies, no other distractions, no cell-phones, and no other priorities - just spending time together. Getting to know each other; exploring the mind of God; His Wisdom, His Word, His knowledge, His Will and Purposes, and His Desires and His Love.
But not today! Adam and Eve had had a bad day. It had actually gone from bad to worse, and now the very thought of spending time with God became a fearsome thing; something to be avoided at all costs - so they 'hid.'
They were the first to find that it is impossible to hide from God. But they were also the first to find out that although they had turned their back on Him, He did not turn His back on them! He still came to find them in the cool of the day.
What about you? What about me? What about us? Do we realise that God is with us every moment of every day? We can't hide a thing from Him! Remember, He created everything, so He knows exactly where we are and what we are up to. He can tell at once if anything is 'out of place.'
But God still longs for that special time of fellowship and communion in the cool of your day. Somewhere, sometime during your day there must be a 'cool time.' Maybe as you are reading this - this is your 'cool time.'
Make sure you always get a 'cool time. And spend it in quality fellowship and communion with Jesus, with God.
No matter what sort of day you've had, might have, or think you will have, it will always be better if you spend the 'cool time' with Him. He is always eagerly waiting to share it with you - no matter where you are or what you've done.
Never forget that!
