GOD DISCIPLINES US FOR OUR GOOD THAT WE MIGHT SHARE IN HIS HOLINESS.
God always has a purpose.
Our God is a God of order, not chaos. Indeed, He makes order out of chaos. He disciplines us, not as an ego boost for Him, nor from the feeling that as He is so high above us that He can treat us, His creatures, His creation just as He likes. No, He disciplines us with a purpose. Not for His benefit or satisfaction, but for ours.
Yes, He wants us to shine. Shine in our jobs, shine in our neighbourhood, shine in our sport and recreation, shine in our relationships, shine in our goals - but they are all with one aim in mind. Not to glorify and exalt us, but to enable us to be far more than we could ever be without Him.
Listen, if you want to be just the 'human' you - go ahead - but that is not the full desire of God for your life. He has greater plans - far above anything you or I can think or imagine. He is not a stingy God. He wants us to have life and life in all its fullness - but in order to comprehend that, we have to make a mind shift. Shift out of the carnal, and worldly - into the spiritual and divine.
God is not looking for us just to enjoy this life - although that can happen - but He is looking for much more significant effects - for you to enjoy Eternal Life! He wants you and me to become more and more like Jesus. Why? Because He loves Jesus so much. Yes! But listen - why does He love Jesus so much. Because He is the exact representation of Father. Father like Son! Jesus is the radiance of the Majesty on high - and God wants us to share in His holiness.
What does it mean to share in His holiness? Separated out for Him, yes. But much more than even that - His holiness is totally unique and above and beyond anything that man could invent or dream. He created, not just the world and our galaxy, but billions of them!
That vast Creator God wants to discipline us for good that we might share in His Holiness. To be like Him in every attribute. That is awesome, isn't it?
Are you still going to duck His discipline? Or will you accept the challenge and go all out for His likeness?
