HE GAVE THE RIGHT TO BECOME THE CHILDREN OF GOD
To ALL!
To all who received Him, to those who believed in His Name.
He "gave" the right, the authority. Yes, we don't earn it. He "gave" us the right.
Just imagine being given the right to be a prince 'for a day'. The sleepless nights in excited anticipation. The preparations for making sure our hair was in 'just the right place' and that our clothes were suitable. We would polish and polish and polish our shoes until we could see our faces in them smiling back at us. The list of things we would prepare so that we could 'accomplish' something on the day.
The day would arrive and pass and we would be left with permanent memories of overwhelming joy and the sheer wonder at being allowed such a privilege. Yes, we would never forget it - and yet that was just for a day! That required us to make preparations. And that was just as an earthly prince.
What John is referring to here is in a completely different league. Not just for a day - but for the rest of our lives on earth, plus never ending Eternity. This is not some future day - this starts the moment we commit our lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
There are no preparations to make. We take on the righteousness of Christ as our clothes. Like a real prince, we don't need to feel "out of place" in the role because it is our inheritance, our destiny and He gives us His Holy Spirit to empower us and be with us so that our lives are supernatural naturally.
