August Topic: Security, Significance and Self-worth

We all need to come back to basics from time to time and what better time to do it than now.

Let's spend this month together reminding ourselves of those important issues which make up some of the foundation of our Christian relationship with God and our walk with Him.

1 John 1:7

IF WE WALK IN THE LIGHT AS HE IS IN THE LIGHT...

If you want to see where you are going, you have two choices.

Either you travel during the daylight hours or you carry an adequate light. The coal miner and the pot holer have their lights on their helmets right above their eyes, so where they look they can see, - or they can see where they are looking! It is extreme folly to go into the pitch blackness, where they are going, without being adequately prepared with suitable lighting.

We may be called to go into dark places but we should still be walking in the light. Those who go into the darkness, so that they can become accustomed to it and then, so called, "help" those in the darkness, have either misunderstood or miss-read the Scriptures. Darkness is not challenged by anything other than light. There are many sounds in the darkness - usually it is difficult to separate out the individual sounds. If the light we have is just a flickering flame - yes, it will be seen, but it will have nothing like the effect of a lighthouse or searchlight.

Darkness is not to be pampered. Darkness is to be exposed for what it is - darkness - by bright lights, which will draw to them, those involuntarily held by the darkness, just as surely as a moth is drawn to a lantern.

We were never told to walk in darkness - we are told to walk in the light, and not only so but "as He is in the light". There is no darkness in Him - that is equally what He expects of us. Yes, we will expose the darkness and the creatures of the night will violently object and retaliate as they are able, but in the process captives will be set free and the Kingdom of light extended as God intended.

N.B. Darkness CANNOT ATTACK light! Light dispels darkness every time!

How bright is your light?

Tell me; is it on your forehead too?
