THE ONE IN YOU IS GREATER THAN THE ONE IN THE WORLD
Find it hard to grasp?
I think, for so many, the verse seems to say something else. They seem to think it says 'the God in whom you believe is greater than the one in the world!' Perfectly true, of course, but that is not what it says!
The Word of God - through John - says The One IN YOU is greater than the one who is in the world. Yes, not just in the pastor, preacher, or minister. Not just in the cell group leader, vicar or parish priest. Not just in the elders, deacons, bishops, evangelists, youth workers and Sunday School teachers - IN YOU! Why? Because if you are a Child of the Living God through repentance and salvation - then in you, is the Holy Spirit. When you became a Child of God - He took up residence within you, boots and all!
The Holy Spirit is the Dynamic Power of God. He is the same Spirit who inhabits every believer in the Lord Jesus Christ - and do you know what? - We all have exactly the same amount of the Holy Spirit.
There are no degrees of Holy Spirit residence. The only degrees are those imposed by us! The amount we allow the Holy Spirit freedom to live and move in and through our lives determines the amount of the Power He is able to use. He has been expressly sent to us to empower us and make us able to do what Jesus did. In fact Jesus said we would do even more than He did. He had the Holy Spirit in His life and He demonstrated His Power. The Holy Spirit had total freedom in Jesus' life - that is how we "saw" the Deity of Jesus manifest.
Jesus has now sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in each of us to the same measure and it is up to us to "Let Him Out".
He was not given just to bless us. He was given to destroy the works of the evil one. To set at liberty the captives and usher in the Kingdom of God. To declare in power and glory that the One in YOU is greater than the one who is in the world!
Go on - Let Him flow out through even YOU. Your life could be dramatically changed for the better - both for you, and the unchurched people you mix with!
