AS FOR ME, THE LORD HAS LED ME...
Who said that?
Enoch? No! Noah? No! Abraham? No! Not even Abraham. Not even one of Abraham's children. This was said by Abraham's chief servant! Eliezer of Damascus, presumably (Gen 15:2).
A man who had lived with Abraham long enough to see and realise that Abraham had a relationship with his God that he himself, wanted too. Obviously Abraham had made 'Christianity' and 'Jehovah/Yahweh' so attractive, Eliezer had come into the same relationship with God.
Masters who really cared about their slaves were in a rare minority, just like employers are of today. Also, so often, slaves do their work purely out of duty, not out of love, devotion or relationship. The same is true of employees today. (We aren't even grateful for the job in the first place!).
Surely this is a challenge to us today? Are we a caring boss? Do we make Jesus so attractive to our workers/employees that they want to know Him for themselves?
What about those of us who are employees? Do we work out of duty only, rushing off as soon as knock-off time arrives - just keeping totally focussed upon the job in hand without a care for the spiritual state of our boss, and without trying to make Jesus attractive to them too?
God was very interested in Abraham, and for many of us he has a special place in our hearts too. But listen, God wasn't just interested in Abraham. He was interested in his whole household, the whole 'company.'
Are there those that you are praying for at work? Listen, God is interested in them even more than you are. Had you forgotten you are there for a person? Bring them to Jesus, in prayer every day and see the changes in their lives.
What a thrill it must have been for Laban and Rebekah to hear his testimony! I'm quite sure it got relayed to Isaac and Abraham too, and they would have been equally excited. But there was Someone else who would have been even more thrilled and His Name is Yahweh!
