This month I want us to look at why we are still on earth! We are not in Heaven yet - we are destined to go there - and many of us would like to go there quickly (be it to escape the present, be released from the pain experienced on earth or just out of an overwhelming desire to "be with Jesus"). So why can't we go there straight away once we have become a Christian? Maybe there is still something for me to do or become on earth. Let's together have a look at what we are here for... |

NOT EVEN HALF ... WAS TOLD ME!
The Queen of Sheba came to see Solomon - because of what she'd been told.
Of his wisdom and riches. When she came, she was "blown away", because although she had been given "a good report", the reality exceeded the description beyond words!
However, the description she had been given was such that she was "compelled to find out more for herself". I believe this is a "key" to our faith sharing too, whether by invitation, by word or just by lifestyle.
How attractive is the 'Jesus' in you to others? Your unsaved family, your unsaved work colleagues, your unsaved employer, and your unsaved neighbour? Is your life and witness making Jesus so attractive that they feel "compelled" to find out more for themselves? Or do they take one look at you and say - if that's Christianity I don't want a bar of it?
Take heart there is a remedy. It's - get to know Jesus - because He is not only attractive but He is also totally absorbing. Make an effort to let go of your own life and will and let them be "lost" in Jesus and His will and suddenly you will find "they" will see and be attracted to the Jesus in you.
There's another lesson here too. When you talk of Jesus do you get excited? Do you tell how wise He is, how rich He is, how great He is, how indescribable He is?
The marvellous thing about Jesus is that, no matter how loving, how majestic, how rich, how powerful, how gracious you describe Him - once we are attracted sufficiently to "find out for ourselves" we are never disappointed and neither will they be.
You can be sure that whatever your description of Jesus, it can never be exaggerated!Furthermore, you will see that when they search for themselves, they will come back and say to you - you didn't tell me the half of it!
