THE OLD ORDER HAS PASSED AWAY
OR "IT'S FRIDAY BUT SUNDAY'S A'COMING!"
Tony Compolo is famous for his message "It's Friday but Sunday's a coming", and I wish to take time here to remind us of some of the basic thoughts. I'll dispense with his introduction of how it came about and move straight into the content.
It's Friday - referring of course to "Good Friday". The "day" when everything went wrong for the disciples, and satan thought he had won. "But Sunday's a coming" refers to Easter Sunday and the resurrection when their joy was not only restored but enlarged, and Christ's victory over satan revealed.
What is the old order? When evil triumphs! We see it all around us. Lies abound. Integrity is a dirty word. It refers to all those politically correct statements...- not "living in sin", an alternative lifestyle. Not homosexuality - but a life of freedom and safe sex. Not "licence" but developing one's individuality. That will be no more!
Injustice will be a thing of the past! Blasphemy will cease. Wickedness will no longer be able to strut its wares with blatant arrogance. The finance institutions, which charge iniquitous rates, will crumble. Those service industries which cream off inequitable profits through prices reflected in businesses owning a monopoly will be able to do so no more.
The poor will no longer be victims of the rich and powerful. The widows and orphans will no longer be exploited or ignored. The workers will no longer be subjected to slavery or penal rates. The sick will no longer have to be left unattended to die. Those suffering from famine will no longer have to go through that humiliation, degradation and death.
No longer will man be able to be inhumane to man. Terrorists will no longer be able to perpetrate fear and havoc. Drug barons will reap their true rewards. Corrupt industrialists and politicians will no longer keep us at their mercy.
And babies will not be murdered in the name of abortion, or the elderly in the name of euthanasia just because of their "inconvenience" to others.

But lift up your eyes and rejoice - Yes it's Friday but Sunday's a coming!
